Ministering Spirits – Part 5

Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? NKJV

One of the great provisions of God for His church is the ministry of angels.  In this series, we are going to explore the Scriptures concerning this ministry.  Angels and their Kingdom activity are mentioned through the Old Testament and the New Testament.  Our knowledge (experience) and faith will grow as we look to the Scriptures to educate us in this study.

  • It is of utmost importance that believers understand the ministry of angels in their behalf, that their faith might be encouraged regarding this gracious provision God has made for them.  It is surprising to find a number of commentators expressing their belief that the ministry of angels to men ceased at the Ascension of Christ, not to be resumed until His Return to earth.  This is difficult to understand in relation to Hebrews 1:14 where we are told: “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”  This certainly applies to believers today.  (Foundations Of Pentecostal Theology, Page 474)

Part 5 – In tonight’s teaching, we look into the connection between Jesus speaking to Nathaneal in John 1 concerning angel activity and Jacob’s Ladder found in Genesis 28.  The ministry of angels comes from heaven to earth on a ladder or staircase, as we look into these two accounts we see that the ladder is Jesus Christ or the Word of God.  The ministry of angels is activated through believers speaking the promises provided in our covenant with God through Christ Jesus.
