The Epistle Of Joy – Part 11

Philippians is known as the Epistle of Joy. Paul’s first encounter with the people of Philippi is found in Acts 16 where Paul received a vision of a gentleman from Macedonia asking him to come over there. Philippi was a chief city of Macedonia. It is referred to as a colony, a colony was a Roman city for their war veterans. The people of Philippi were not Jews but gentiles. The theme of Philippians is Joy in the midst of every situation. Paul suffered imprisonment, yet he had joy. This joy is above and beyond what the world can have or understand.

Part 11 – In this message, we wrap up chapter 1 in Philippians, verses 23 – 30.  We discuss the importance of hearing from heaven on all life decisions including talking to the Lord about when it is our time to die.

Knowing our purpose strengthens our faith in difficult situations, in addition realizing that we are called and appointed to suffer with Christ for the sake of the gospel helps with our endurance in the trials of life.

Paul’s faith under house arrest demonstrates how spiritual growth and kingdom advancement can be maintained in tribulation.  Our fearless life is a sign to our enemies of their destruction and our salvation.
